I’ve photographed a lot over the years — sleepy newborns, wild toddlers, camera-shy teens, and families just trying to survive photo day without having a meltdown. I’ve chased little ones through fields, wiped boogers off props, straightened crooked bows, and laughed through complete chaos. Sometimes sessions go smoothly… and sometimes we’re all just out there winging it — which, honestly, is kind of the magic.
And that’s pretty much what this blog will be: a little messy, a little random, and very real.
I won’t be giving out expert business advice or viral-worthy tips…. Because honestly I’m old, not cool and definitely not trendy enough for that. This blog is more like a scattered conversation in my head that I decided to type out… a mix of session updates (yes, fall minis are coming in a few weeks, and Santa planning has already begun) mixed with the behind-the-scenes chaos and thoughts that come with being a photographer, mom, and occasionally a functioning adult.
Like today — it’s overcast and my cats are glued to the window, acting like it’s their job to monitor the neighborhood birds. I’m doing laundry, (sort of) eating peppers and ranch dip, procrastinating on a million different things, all while watching reruns of the Golden Batchelor…..You know, just a regular Wednesday.
So this blog? It’s a space for all of that. The real stuff. The in-between stuff. The “I don’t know what I’m doing, but I’m doing it anyway” kind of stuff.
If you’re here reading — thank you. If you’re new, welcome to the chaos. If you’ve been with me for a while, I’m glad you’ve stuck around. I hope this space makes you feel seen, maybe laugh a little, and reminds you that none of us really have it all together… but we’re doing just fine anyway.
